Brewery Bar Manager/Lead Bartender (full-time)

Local Brewing Co. is looking for a driven, Bar Manager/Lead Bartender & Server to join our brewery and beer bar team. **This role is key to our beer bar/taproom business, so we are looking for an enthusiastic hustler to join our high-performing team providing a clean, fun, brewery and beer bar experience with excellent service in SoMa.**

We serve a variety of rotating beers brewed here at our brewery, and we also serve a casual, but well-executed menu of sausages and sandwiches.

We're looking for a friendly & flexible lead beertender/server -- who loves beer and wants to work at a brewery -- to join our growing team. A geniune focus on customer service, and an interest in beer and food service is key for this role. This person will be a lead bartender/server and closing beertender/keyholder -- and for the right candidate, some Bar Management responsibilities. Lead Bartender/Server will be much of the role, which entails excellent floor service and bartending service at our main beer bar pouring sixteen rotating beers for key shifts -- including prime closing, opening and serving shifts. We have a culture centered on customers with a "team mentality," so every team member is expected to do both floor service and bartending service. Our Local Squad is a little family -- we don't have much turnover, so we're looking for someone who sees themselves at Local for the longer term.

Bar Manager Responsibilities
- Scheduling

Beertender Responsibilities
- Serving beer properly from our 16-tap tower
- Enthusiastically answering customers' questions about our beers and the brewing process
- Creating a fun and engaging atmosphere
- Managing/leading bar operations while behind the bar -- from cleaning to pouring beer to stocking glassware
- Understand and follow bar operations, including keeping an impeccably clean bar service area
- Adhere to all alcohol service regulations and requirements
- Sharing customer feedback with others during team meetings
- Follow Opening and Closing bar protols flawlessly
- Key holder

Server Responsibilities
- Taking food and beverage orders in an often chaotic and fast-paced environment
- Greet customers with a friendly and enthusiastic attitude
- Front to back service -- order taking, serving, bussing food and glassware
- Learn profiles of all beers on tap and food menu to help customers select meals and beers that match their preferences
- Keeping bar, floor and bathrooms clean and inviting.
- Provide excellent customer service of food & beer to indoor and/or outdoor spaces
- Work closely with beertenders to ensure correct orders are executed properly
- Working collaboratively with brewers, kitchen staff, fellow beertenders and founders
- Provide excellent table service to guests including inputting orders in the POS, running food and drinks, opening and closing checks, clearing plates and glassware.
- Complete sidework and ad hoc tasks as requested/specified in checklists

Required Skills & Experience

Requirements
- Service experience is preferred
- Experience as a 'key holder' is preferred
- Experience managing people is preferred
- Able to work Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays & Mondays -- possible additional shifts as needed. Shifts will include solo shifts and/or a blend of opening, floor service and closing shifts TBD
- A clean freak
- Possess basic math skills and the ability to handle money
- Commitment to quality service, food and beverage knowledge
- Experience with bar operations is helpful
- Experience managing people is helpful
- Familiarity with POS systems

We're looking for a badass Sales, Events & Ops Lead -- who loves beer and wants to represent Local Brewing Co. and help us create the best customer experience for our customers onsite, offsite and at festival events. We have a culture centered on customers with a "team mentality," so every team member at Local contributes to our overall mission of delivering a wide array of high quality beer onsite and offsite.

This role entails maintaining existing off-premise draft and retail sales accounts the Bay Area, selecting and securing new accounts that match Local’s brand and quality standards, creating and supporting onsite events and leading offsite festival events.

Detailed responsibilities:
Sales Support (~2-3 days/week)
• Maintain Sales email account, including sending out weekly Sales emails and responding to new inquiries and orders from on and off-premise accounts, including retail and draft accounts in SF, the East Bay, South Bay and North Bay
• Proactively manage portfolio of current accounts, expanding relationships and maximizing opportunities within existing client base
• Set up tasting appointments, deliver samples to new accounts and/or accounts identified by CEO, and follow-up
• Ensure account and customer satisfaction through friendly service and ongoing communication
• Achieve agreed upon revenue and sales goals through new business opportunities and increased account sales
• Manage/update Keg Delivery database with new orders
• Work closely with our Logistics Lead to ensure orders are delivered when promised
• Manage and update Sales Price list and reference documents for the Beer Bar Team
• Execute on-site tastings at stores when needed
• Maintain impeccable records and update Sales database with last contact date and POC
• Report weekly plan and visits to CEO
• Communicate with AR to ensure accounts are up-to-date with payments
• Delivery of orders to accounts in a pinch

Events Support (1 day/week + some weekends)
• Be Local’s Brand Ambassador at onsite and offsite events.
• Maintain Events email account, and respond to brewery event booking inquiries within a timely manner.
• Book events, communicate, coordinate and facilitate booked reservations to the Kitchen and Beer Bar Teams
• Working with the CEO & GM to create, schedule and execute special events at the brewery beer bar to drive revenue
• Be the main POC for offsite festivals, including preparing materials and documentation for the festivals, transportation of equipment to/from events, scheduling staff for festivals, setup and breakdown of events, and function as the lead Local representative pouring at Local’s station during events
• Understand and communicate the Local brand and story
• Guide brewery tours when needed
• Train festival staff as needed
• Marketing Support as needed

Operations Support (1 day/week + some weekends)
• Beer Release Support, including updating menus, websites, POS, Price Posting
• Manage FOH bar supply inventory & ordering as needed
• Maintain & update monthly bar schedule
• Logistics support
• Assist behind bar if/when needed

Required Skills & Experience

** We're looking for an independent and reliable Sausage & Sandwich cook that wants to be a part of a growing brewery team. This is a great entry role for someone who is looking to start their career in a brewery pub/kitchen. You will be trained by our Chef to run the small kitchen as the solo cook during your two shifts -- Saturdays & Sundays. It's a manageable role where you will be expected to execute ~50+ covers with special attention to detail and little supervision.

*Please note that Local Brewing Co. is a brewery that offers patrons a variety of warm pizzettas, panini and sausages, it is not a full-service restaurant. All food menu items are simple but perfectly prepared by one person in a small, Prep Kitchen (no hood and no grill).

Responsibilities
- Own kitchen operations including flawless execution of orders, and maintaining a clean work environment at all times.
- Perform all aspects of food production: from prep to cooking to plating all dishes.
- Proactive management of ingredients, including assistance with inventory.
- Setup, service and breakdown of station and dishwashing, including leaving a clean, sanitary station at night.
- Follow recipes and execute every dish with integrity.
- Clean and maintain kitchen stations in accordance with all safety and sanitation guidelines.
- Work collaboratively with other Kitchen Team Members, Brewers, Beertenders, Runners and Company Founders.
- Must be able to work weekends from 3pm - 9/9:30pm. Additional shifts may be available.
- Must be able to work independently and execute accurately without constant supervision.
- Must maintain exceptionally clean appearance.
- Must consistently arrive on time and ready for work.
- Must be able to access work schedules via email or text.

Required Skills & Experience

Requirements
- 1+ yr experience in a working kitchen environment is preferred.
- A strong interest in food preparation and attention to detail while working independently in a small kitchen could suffice for the right candidate.
- Food Handlers card required; Food Manager Cert a plus.
- Commitment to quality service, food and beverage knowledge.
- Basic understanding of professional cooking and knife handling skills, local and seasonal ingredients, and diverse cooking styles and cultures.
- Understanding and knowledge of safety, sanitation and food handling procedures.
- Willing to work with alternative approaches and overcome challenges and limitations.
