BORN IN SAN FRANCISCO
Our brewing roots began in 2005 brewing up a spiced Belgian in our flat in San Francisco. We shared our beers with friends in Dolores Park until 2015, when we opened the doors to our 10-barrel custom brewery and beer bar on Bluxome St. in South of Market, San Francisco

Our Team

Regan Long
Brewmaster & Head Brewer Since 2010
As Co-Founder of Local Brewing Co, Regan's vision has been laser-focused on creating more than just great beer, but rather an awesome brewery experience. With fifteen years in science, business strategy and innovative start-ups under her belt, the next big challenge was to bring Local to life in San Francisco – her home of 22 years. Hailing originally from Oregon, she's was a long-time home brewer, then guest-brewed at several Oregon and California breweries before starting Local. She holds degrees in Physics and Oceanography and a brewing certificate through Seibel Institute of Technology World Brewing Academy. Her role at Local is run all aspects of the business while brewing all of Local's innovative rotating and flagship brews.
Sarah Fenson
Co-Founder
As Co-Founder of Local Brewing Co, Sarah often works behind the scenes to keep the business gears moving. Her twenty years in leadership communication and strategy in corporate and small-business arenas makes her a super asset to the Local Team.
Nas Maldonado
Chef
Nas joined us as our Chef in 2019 and we couldn't be happier to have him on the team. Nas has brought so many creative new dishes to our menu including our line of pizzettas, weekly specials, and he's made it a point to integrate our beers in almost every dish. When he's not at Local, he's practicing capoeira and/or hanging with his wife and young son, Mateo.
Jamie McMackin
Logistics Lead
Our GOT Logistics Lead, Jamie, has a long, diverse background doing everything from being a UPS Driver to a Massage Therapist. He specializes in taking Local beer from the tank, into the keg and then on to the customer without missing a beat (or getting parking tickets). He's our sole delivery guy braving the Bay Area streets, so give him a fist bump when you see him out on the road.
Jaron Lines
Ops & Bar Lead
Jaron jumped aboard as a Local Operations Lead & Bartender in Summer 2021. Originally from Arizona, she bailed on her legal career and followed her craft beer passion to join us here at Local. Jaron's got some serious manicuring and crocheting skills, and loves a good fruit sour. We couldn't be happier to have her as part of our squad
Juan Quiroz
Lead Bartender
Juan came to us as a Lead Bartender in late 2019. He was juggling a couple gigs, but ultimately ended up here at Local after we swayed him with our Black Lager. Juan definitely loves a good West Coast IPA or barrel sour. When not at Local, he's usually cuddling up with his lil cocker spaniel, Uni.
Dan Malcher
Field Events Lead
Dan came aboard the year we opened and has helped out in almost every department. Danny originally was hired as a server/bartender, then helped out on the canning line and logistics. He's now our Field Events Lead which means you'll likely see him at any event Local beer is being poured. When he's not a Local, he's a volunteer firefighter in the North Bay.
Sean Carroll
Cellarman & Bartender
Sean joined us in March of 2020 -- that's right, the worst possible time -- to help out on our FOH team in anticipation for our peak Giants Season. But almost immediately after he joined, we were shut down by the City. Sean jumped right in to help Regan out doing cellar work in the brewery, and learned the new normal of beertending. When he's not at Local, he's usually producing and/or sound engineering music.

Guest Brewers

Anchor Brewing > Dane Volek
Beer brewed:
07/28/2017: Anchored at Local
We were selected by the rad brewing team at Anchor Brewing to brew their first ever collaboration beer here at Local. Dane came over and we brewed a hazy IPA using new and old school hopping techniques with three different form factors of hops: hop pellets, hop lupulin powder and whole cone hops. The beer was so successful, we brewed two batches, canned it and brewed it again at Anchor Public Taps. It was also listed as one of Ken Weaver's Top beers of 2017.
Mike Galli
Beer brewed:
02/09/2018: West Coast Lighthouse
For our 2017 Competition we made a call for IPAs only with the intent of brewing the winning recipe in both West and East Coast styles -- West Coast being more traditional with bitterness and clarity, and the East Coast style being more juicy, less bitter and hazy. With dry-hop additions of Citra, Mosaic, Cascade and Amarillo -- Mike Galli came correct to beat out the competition with his American IPA recipe. And, it turns out he took second place last year, so he was destined to be in the Brewhouse with Regan.
Steve Tanner
Beer brewed:
01/15/2016: Lighthouse Coconut Chocolate Milk Porter
Steve Tanner's Coconut Chocolate Milk Porter won Best in Show in our second annual Local Lighthouse Homebrew Competition in late 2016. It was hard to beat with the onslaught of ingredients in this beer, ranging from rich Belgian malts, cocoa nibs, coffee, vanilla, lactose and coconut in every stage of the process (mash, kettle, post). The resulting brew was a deliciously balanced 5.5% porter. Our team nicknamed it "Chocolate Milk" and we featured his recipe during SF Beer Week 2017.
Trevor Martens
Beer brewed:
12/22/2015: Lighthouse Dunkel
In December 2015, we held our first annual Local Lighthouse Homebrew competition. We had 62 entries from all over California. Trevor's Munich Dunkel won Best of Show, and we brought him in to brew his recipe on our system for feature during SF Beer Week 2016. Trevor has been homebrewing for seven years, and has received several homebrewing accolades, including awards from AHA National Competition, California State Homebrewers Competition, and the California State Fair Competition. We were excited to work with him to scale his Dunkel to our 10-barrel system to give him some exposure.
