Assistant Brewer/Cellar Operator

Local Brewing Co. is looking for an Assistant Brewer or Cellar Operator to join the team.

Local Brewing Co. is a brewery with a firm foundation in the San Francisco beer scene. Located just blocks form AT&T Park and CalTrain, Local is known as a destination brewery and beer bar with up to 16 fresh, flagships and rotating brews including SF Lager, Duboce Park IPA, and our award-winning Bluxome Black Lager.

Local functions as a beer bar (serving all Local house brews), as well as a production 10-barrel brewery serving 100 select draft and retail accounts in the Bay Area. We have an extremely talented and tight team at Local, and as we grow, we’re looking to bring aboard a key member to our Brewing Team.

This role includes all aspects of brewery production cellar work, including CIP of the brewhouse, fermentation/conditioning vessels, keg cleaning and maintenance, transfer of product, carbonation of finished product in time for release, kegging of product for accounts and in-house beer bar -- all with strict adherence to standard operating procedures set forth in training.

As an Assistant Brewer/ Cellar Operator, you will provide direct support to our Brewmaster. You will be responsible for maintaining a clean and sanitary environment, also managing all tap lines and inventory for our onsite Beer Bar. Upon mastering the cellar duties, there's the opportunity to assist the Brewmaster in brews and learn aspects of brewing on our 10bbl system.

Daily responsibilities include:
• Daily CIP of brewhouse, fermentation tanks and bright beer tanks
• Daily cleaning and maintenance of kegs
• A dedication towards maintaining a clean, neat, and safe work area
• General cleaning of cellar and brewhouse areas including floors, vessels, piping, etc.
• Periodic handling of hazardous chemicals
• Continually maintain all brewery/production areas including equipment – (mill room, brewhouse, fermentation, spent grain bins, as well as all walkways and driveways around or leading to brewery)
• Monitor and take readings of CO2 levels in beer
• Monitor and take gravity readings daily
• Document daily activities and inventory in logs
• Assist with canning of beer
• Volunteer to pour beer and represent the brewery at beer festivals
• Be courteous and professional when representing the brewery (on-site or off-site)
• Work with FOH team members to provide the best beer experience for customers
• Occasionally deliver beer to accounts and provide line cleans as needed

Required Skills & Experience

• At least one (1) year of cellar work experience at a 7bbl brewery or larger; this position does not require previous experience brewing, although knowledge of beer and the brewing process is a key aspect of this role
• Familiarity with draft systems and operation of serving tanks
• A passion for beer and brewing
• Must be exceptionally detail oriented
• Must be able to work independently, as well as with a team
• Ability to problem solve when challenges arise
• Respectful, Team player mentality
• Must be punctual and able to arrive to work on time and keep a production schedule
• This is a very physical role. Must be able to lift 55lb. at least 60" high on a daily basis; occasionally lift up to 170lb
• Embrace changes in procedure geared towards ongoing improvements to process

Beertender

Local Brewing Co. is looking for beertenders for its brewery and beer bar, located in SoMa, two blocks from AT&T Park. Our spot is a high-profile destination, where our small batches of approachable beer will be accompanied by our specially designed menu of small plates. We're super excited to open our doors, and want to bring passionate people on board who want to help create a fun and positive beer experience.

A friendly personality, a genuine interest in beer and solid experience trumps knowing everything about brewing.

Responsibilities
• Serving beer from our 16-tap tower.
• Taking food and beverage orders in a potentially chaotic, fast-paced environment
• Learning profiles of beers on tap and helping customers select beers that match their preferences
• Answering customers' questions about the brewing process.
• Bar operations, including keeping an impeccably clean bar service area.
• Creating a fun atmosphere.
• Working collaboratively with brewer, kitchen staff, fellow beertenders and founders.
• Sharing customer feedback with others during team meetings.

Brewery Distribution Lead

As our Brewery Distribution Lead, you'll be the lynchpin support between the Brewery and Sales Team by taking the lead on keg cleaning, filling and delivery. You'll be the face of Local when delivering beer to our select accounts, and you'll also get your hands beery by taking the lead on our "canned-by-hand" retail product production line.

Daily responsibilities include:
• Cleaning, filling and maintaining kegs -- all with strict adherence to standard operating procedures provided in training
• Coordinate and execute delivery of kegs and cans to draft and retail accounts, maintaining defined schedule/route and the highest level of customer service
• Load, unload, fuel and operate delivery van
• Line cleaning (in-house and outside accounts)
• Lead "canned-by-hand" canning operation and train assistants and interns on operation
• General cleaning and maintenance tasks, as required
• Periodic handling of hazardous chemicals with strict adherence to standard operating procedures
• Document daily activities and inventory in logs
• Be courteous and professional when representing the brewery (on site and off site)
• Work with FOH team members to provide the best beer experience for customers

This is a physically demanding role. Must be able to lift 55lbs. and maneuver 170lbs. on a daily basis. Must be able to lift/maneuver kegs for up to 8 hours a day.

The right candidate could, over time, take on cellar duties and assist on brews if desired.

Required Skills & Experience

• Valid driver's license and clean driving record

Line Cook

Local Brewing Co. is looking for a one full-time and one part-time line cook to run the prep kitchen at our 10-barrel brewery and beer bar in San Francisco's SoMa neighborhood, just two blocks from AT&T Park. We're opening in June.

Our spot is a high-profile destination, where our small batches of approachable beer will be accompanied by our specially designed menu of small plates.

We're looking for line cooks that see cooking as more than just a job, and who want to get in on the ground floor of a growing craft beer business, and have fun while doing it.

Responsibilities
• Help support the opening of the brewery and kitchen.
• Perform all aspects of production: from prepping to cooking to serving.
• Setup, service and breakdown of stations and signage.
• Follow recipes and execute with integrity.
• Clean and maintain kitchen stations in accordance with all safety and sanitation guidelines.
• Maintain a clean work environment at all times.
• Help guests, answer questions and fulfill guests' requests.
